Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a great and wonderful opportunity for the visiting tourists to explore the beautiful region of Jomsom and Muktinath which lies ahead the Annapurna region of Nepal.
The trekkers will have plenty of opportunities to view the Himalaya Mountains and enjoy the natural beauty of the region while also experience the adventure of trekking in Nepal. The holy shrine of Muktinath is one of the major attractions of the trek while the ancient monasteries, numerous caves that lie scattered in the region are the other high points of the trekking. Jomsom Muktinath Trek is suited for those who are interested in experiencing the lifestyle of the mountain people and deserted plateau above the tree line and sharing the trail with caravans of donkeys and ponies.
The fascinating Jomsom-Muktinath Trek starts with a drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu. After one and half hour drive from pokhara to Nayapul , our trekking starts via Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani. And next day morning we go up to Poon Hill after that we descend to tatopani, which is natural hot spring. And to the Kali Gandaki gorge (Kali Gandaki Gorge is deepest gorge valley in the world) passing through many fascinating Thakali villages called Marphas, along the way and then to the headquarter of the district called Jomsom. Subsequently we head to the north to Kagbeni . Then, we have a hike to the Muktinath temple.
Day-01: Arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu
Our team representatives will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and then be transferred to the Hotel where you will be briefed about the travel itinerary. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day-02: Drive to Pokhara 6 hrs
The next day, you will drive to Pokhara (around 200km) along Prithivi Highway which takes around six hours. After reaching Pokhara, you will be transferred to the Hotel there where you will be staying overnight.
Day 03: Fly to Jomsom (2700 meters) & trek to Kagbeni (2800m) 3 hrs
After having breakfast at the Hotel in the morning, on the third day, you will board a flight to Jomsom from Pokhara Airport. The 35 minutes of flight will be exciting as the foreigners can enjoy the views of beautiful mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After reaching Jomsom, the trek formally starts with a short trekking to Kagbeni, also considered as the gateway to Upper Mustang. Kagbeni is situated at an altitude of (2800m). Overnight stay at guesthouse.
Day 04: Trek to Muktinath (3800m) 7 hrs
On the fourth day of the trekking, you will resume your walk from Kagbeni and head towards Muktinath. Kagbeni is a village in Upper Mustang located in the valley of the Kali Gandaki River. The trail from Kagbeni to Muktinath is quite steep, but the climb will be a memorable one as the trekkers come across Himalayan Yaks, suspension bridges and the local people of the region. After around sex-seven hours of trekking, you will finally reach Muktinath Temple in the evening. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 05: Trek to Marpha 5 hrs
On the fifth morning, you will worship at the Hindu shrine of Muktinath, spend some time exploring the temple and then begin trekking towards Marpha. It is a beautiful village located on the trail of Jomsom- Muktinath trek. The name Marpha is derived from words "mar" meaning hard work and "pha" meaning people. Marpha is also known for the production of local apple brandy. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 06: Trek to Kalopani 6 hrs
From Marpha, the trekkers descend downhill on the sixth day looking at the great Himalayan Mountain Range of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks. Climbing downhill is much easier and relaxing . Great views of sunrise and sunsets are possible from Kalopani. Overnight stay a guesthouse.
Day 07: Trek to Tatopani 6 hrs
On the next day, the trekkers will walk to Tatopani, popular for the natural hot-water spring, from Kalopani. Taking a dip at the hot-water spring cures several skin ailments and other diseases, there is a belief, and hence even the foreigners are seen taking a dip at Tatopani and relax themselves from the tiredness of walking. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 08: Trek to Ghorepani 5 hrs
From Tatopani, the destination for the eighth day is the popular and beautiful village of Ghorepani. While on the way, the trekkers will come across many small rivers, rivulets, and river springs before reaching the traditional Magar village of Ulleri located at around 2080 meters. An hour of walk further up from Ulleri takes the trekkers to Nangethanti, the destination for lunch on day eight. Few more hours of walk from Nangethanti will finally take the trekkers to Ghorepani where you will be staying overnight at a hotel. From Ghorepani, spectacular views of Dhaulagiri I, Tukuche, and other adjoining Himalayas are possible. Sunrise viewing is also quite popular from Ghorepani.
Day 09: Trek to Tadapani 5 hrs
On this day, the visitors will walk from Ghorepani to Poon Hill in the morning. Poon Hill, as we know, is quite popular for the panoramic view of the mountains--Annapurna and others while it is also an ideal spot for the Sunrise and Sunset views of the nearby vicinity. Mountains like Dhaulagiri and Mount Machhapuchhre are also visible from Poon Hill. After visiting Poon Hill and spending some time there at the top, you will return to Ghorepani for a quick breakfast, and then continue the trek to Tadapani. Tadapani is the destination for day nine.
Day 10: Trek to Ghandruk 5 hrs
On the tenth day, the trekkers will climb down from Tadapani and move towards Ghandruk, a wonderful Gurung village located at the foothills of Annapurna Mountain. The Village of Ghandruk is also popular as the visiting foreigners can have a look at the traditional Gurung culture which is still practiced in the village. Plenty of accommodation and lodging facilities are available in Ghandruk and we will be staying in one of such guesthouses in Ghandruk.
Day 11: Back to Pokhara
After taking breakfast in the morning, you will return back to the beautiful city of Pokhara on the eleventh day. 3-4 hours of downhill climbing from Ghandruk will bring the trekkers to Pokhara. As the next day is already arranged for sightseeing in the City, the trekkers can take rest after returning to Pokhara. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 12: Sightseeing in Pokhara
The 12th day will be spent in Pokhara sightseeing around the beautiful Valley full with the natural beauty of lakes, caves, temples, among others. On this day, the trekkers will visit the beautiful Phewa Lake, temples like Barahi and Bindabasini, the World Peace Stupa, Davis Fall, Mahendra Cave, among other sites and places. The night life around Lakeside is also enough to keep tourists interested in this lake town. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 13: Drive back to Kathmandu 6hrs
On this day, you will have breakfast in the morning at the Hotel and then you will drive back to Kathmandu. It will take around six hours. After reaching the Capital, you will be transferred to the Hotel where you will stay overnight.
Day 14: Departure from TIA “Farewell!"
On the final day of the itinerary, you will be transferred to the International Airport in Kathmandu from where you will catch a flight back to your home country.
